Young Los Angeles Firefighter Firefighter Dies
Twenty-two-year-old Peter D. Varnum died while off duty in Simi Valley.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A 22-year-old Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter died Tuesday while off duty.
Peter D. Varnum died in Ventura County, according to the LAFD, which did not immediately release details about Varnum's death.
Varnum joined the department on March 5 and was most recently assigned to Fire Station 89 in North Hollywood, according to the LAFD, which extended its "deepest condolences to his family at this time."
