11th MEU Completes First Week of Training in Anticipation of Deployment
The 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, with components from Camp Pendleton, has another week of training before being deployed later this year.
Marines and sailors attached to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are a week into a series of two-week training exercises that will prepare the MEU to operate as a cohesive force.
Noncombat evacuation exercises were conducted on Saturday and Sunday, requiring Combat Logistics Battalion 11, Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 268 (Reinforced) and Battalion Landing Team 3/1 to perform different elements of an evacuation scenario, reported Marine public affairs.
CLB-11 used a noncombatant tracking system to keep tabs on the evacuees, HMM-268 provided the CH-46E helicopters for escape and 3/1 provided security.
