3 Camp Pendleton Marines Charged in Alleged Marriage Fraud

A Marine in a lesbian relationship allegedly married a male Marine to receive a $1,200 monthly housing stipend so she could live off-base with her partner.

Three Camp Pendleton Marines are being charged with defrauding the Marine Corps out of $75,000 reserved for married service members, San Diego Channel 10 News reported Thursday.

Two lesbian Marines in a domestic relationship wanted to live together off-base so one decided to marry a male Marine friend to receive the $1,200 monthly housing stipend.

Since the Marines will be unable to pay the full amount back, they are facing up to a year in the brig at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
