Camp Pendleton Helicopter Squadrons Transfer Authority in Afghanistan
Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 transferred custody of close air support of Regional Command Southwest to HMLA-267 at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, after a seven-month deployment to the region. This is HMLA-267's first full-force deployment in six years, according to the Department of Defense.
2011 Warrior Games Comes to a Close

Local Artist Paints Portrait of Afghanistan Military Working Dog
Local artist Caroline Carlson painted a portrait of Bo’s King Cole JH, a military working dog killed by an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Afghanistan. Carlson started painting portraits of fallen service members in 2006 as a way to aid in comforting grieving families. This portrait was the first she had painted of a fallen military dog.

Camp Pendleton Bar Benders Looking to Expand Team of Weight Lifters
A group of Camp Pendleton power lifters is looking for more athletes to expand its 14-member team. The group, known as the Bar Benders, consist of 13 service members and one civilian. The team competes with other bases and colleges and is recognized by Camp Pendleton's varsity sports program. Marines and Sailors Have Breakfast with Faith
Each Tuesday morning at the Del Mar mess hall, a group of Marines and sailors meet to discuss their religious faith over breakfast. It's a book club of sorts where members read religious texts chapter by chapter and share their perspectives on what they've read. Contact Cmdr. David D.
