Animal Kingdom Final Season Filming Ramps Up In Oceanside
Oceanside is buzzing about the new Skate Ramp installed at Pacific and Wisconsin for the final season of TNT's hit series Animal Kingdom.
OCEANSIDE, CA — The crime drama Animal Kingdom has returned to Oceanside to film the sixth and final season of the popular TNT series. Oceanside residents have become accustomed to seeing television crews around town since the show started filming in 2016.
Oceanside has served as a beautiful backdrop with over 70 local filming locations, including a number of iconic Oceanside landmarks such as the Oceanside Pier, The Strand and the Oceanside Transit Center (source Visit Oceanside).
Over the last week, locals began posting on social media about a Skate Ramp being built on the empty lot at the corner of Pacific and Wisconsin streets at the south end of the strand. The lot is surrounded by fencing. Security guards patrolling the lot confirmed to residents that the construction was for Animal Kingdom.

The San Diego Reader reported that the skate ramp will be used for flashback scenes of the character, Pope, played by Shawn Hatosy. The season six storyline will include Pope's early years as an aspiring pro skater.
Local skaters were disappointed to learn that the ramp is only temporary and comes down after the Animal Kingdom production leaves town May 23. The cast and crew will return again in July for a final week of filming. While that will be the last of the production here in Oceanside, fans of the show can still look forward to seeing both season five and six coming to the small screen in 2021 and 2022.
