Animal Kingdom: Shawn Hatosy 'Pope' Oceanside Skating Scenes

Shawn Hatosy who plays "Pope" on TNT's Animal Kingdom was spotted filming skate scenes Wednesday while more film crews shot at the beach.

OCEANSIDE, CA - Crowds were gathered at the end of the strand on Pacific Street to watch the filming of the crime drama Animal Kingdom this week. The show has returned to Oceanside for the sixth and final season of the gritty TNT series.

On hand for filming was actor Shawn Hatosy, who plays "Pope" the troubled brother of the Cody family that the show storyline centers on.

The skateboard ramp being used in this week's filming was built on the empty lot at the corner of Pacific and Wisconsin streets over a week ago and has been surrounded by fencing and security guards.

The season six storyline will include Pope's early years as an aspiring pro skater, which explains all the skating scenes. Several younger skaters were on set and skating along with Hatosy, sparking speculation that one of them is playing the younger Pope character.

The skateboard ramp is only temporary and comes down after the Animal Kingdom production leaves town May 23. The cast and crew will return again in July for a final week of filming. While that will be the last of the production here in Oceanside, fans of the show can still look forward to seeing both season five and six coming to the small screen in 2021 and 2022.
