Area Museums Opening Doors to Active-Duty and Reserve Military Personnel This Summer
More than 1,300 San Diego area museums are participating in the gesture to attract life-long museum goers in military families.

The National Endowment for the Arts announced Monday that more than 1,300 museums across the country will offer free admission to active-duty military families this summer, City News Service reported. Active-duty military and reservists, including members of the National Guard, can bring up to five family members to any participating San Diego area museums with a valid military identification:
- The Barona Cultural Center and Museum, Lakeside
- , Oceanside
- Escondido History Center
- Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, San Diego
- Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation, San Diego
- Japanese Friendship Garden, San Diego
- Lux Art Institute, Encinitas
- Mingei International Museum, San Diego
- Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla and San Diego
- Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego
- San Diego Archaeological Center, Escondido
- San Diego Botanic Garden, Encinitas
- San Diego Children's Discovery Museum, Escondido
- San Diego Chinese Historical Museum
- San Diego Hall of Champions
- San Diego History Center
- The San Diego Museum of Art
- San Diego Museum of Man
- Timken Museum of Art, San Diego
- Veterans Museum and Memorial Center, San Diego
- Visions Art Museum: Contemporary Quilts and Textiles, San Diego
