Camp Pendleton fire crews finished a two-day controlled burn to clear dry brush Saturday in preparation for fire season, City News Service reported.
Smoke from the fires had the potential to be visible from Oceanside and Interstate 5 along the Marine Corps base's western border.
The two-day project was meant to improve fire breaks at Edson Range, which is located in the southwest area of the base, City News Service reported.
