Beach Hazards Statement Issued For Oceanside
The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement due to high rip current risk and dangerous swimming conditions.

OCEANSIDE, CA — The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement for the coastal areas of San Diego County, including Oceanside.
The statement is in effect from 4 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Saturday along the county's coastline.
Large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet and dangerous rip currents are expected along the coast in San Diego, with sets to 8 feet south of La Jolla, according to the National Weather Service. The highest surf is expected Friday.

"A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong rip currents, elevated surf heights, minor tidal overflow or lightning are possible at local beaches," forecasters said. "Obey posted warning signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming. Use caution when in or near the water and always swim near a lifeguard."
