Best of Oceanside Intl Film Festival Showcase - Saturday, Mar 23

Oceanside, CA - Join filmmakers and local film buffs for an afternoon of great independent cinema & post-screening Q&A discussion this Saturday, March 23rd from 2pm- 5pm. The Best of OIFF Showcase is presented by the Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation and hosted by Oceanside Intl Film Festival and KOCT - North County's Channel.

The encore presentation will feature some of the 2018 Oceanside Intl Film Festival’s Stand Out Titles. The afternoon will include an opportunity to meet and ask questions of the filmmakers and learn more about plans for the #OIFF2019 coming this August. Complimentary drinks & light refreshments will be served for all attending guests.

The Best of Oceanside Intl Film Festival Showcase will feature an encore screening of OIFF's jury award winner for Best Short Documentary, FROM HAARLEM TO HARLEM. Fatigued by incessant news of African American people being shot and killed, and with the election as the final straw, artist Alanna Airitam decided create a body of work to portray black people as she knows them to be, which is far from the media's persistently negative narrative. "I was tired of the narrative that we aren't worthy of being treated with respect, that we aren't beautiful, that we don't belong," she says. Alanna set out to prove these negative messages false with images that reveal the "true grace, pride, beauty, power, and strength" of black people in the face of all they have suffered.
