Brown Honors Fallen Bakersfield Marine
Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday ordered the flags at the state Capitol be flown at half-mast in honor of fallen Camp Pendleton Marine Sgt. Adan Gonzales Jr.

Camp Pendleton Marine Sgt. Adan Gonzales Jr. of Bakersfield was killed during combat operations in Afghanistan on Sunday. On Tuesday, Gov. Jerry Brown released a statement and ordered that the flags at the state Capitol be flown at half-mast in honor of Gonzales' sacrifice.
"On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Sgt. Adan Gonzales Jr., who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time."
Brown will also send Gonzales’ family a letter of condolence.
