Brush Fire Closes SR 78 From Mar Vista Drive To Sycamore Ave

OCEANSIDE, CA — A Brush Fire has prompted the closure of State Route 78 from Mar Vista Drive to Sycamore Ave in both directions. SIG ALERT ISSUED at 8:58 PM on Monday night.

At least 6 spots were on fire according to a CHP report at 8:53 pm. Highway 78 is expected to be closed for at least two hours.

Residents at Pepperwood apartments report being evacuated due to threats from the fires. SDSO is coordinating with CHP for evacuations.

UPDATE: At 10:24 pm CHP requested EB 78 at MAR VISTA be shut down to cut down a Palm Tree that could fall onto the highway lanes.

UPDATE: At 10:54 pm CHP enforced a HARD CLOSURE and is pushing vehicles off at Sycamore avenue.
