Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey Dixon relinquished his post as sergeant major of MCI-West to Sgt. Maj. Derrick Christovle, formerly of 1st Marine Logistics Group.
Several hundred people were in attendance at Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey Dixon’s post and relief ceremony aboard Camp Pendleton on Friday. With the passing of a ceremonial sword, Dixon relinquished his post as sergeant major of Marine Corps Installations West to Sgt. Maj. Derrick Christovle, who was the regimental sergeant major at 1st Marine Logistics Group.
Marines formed seven platoons, representing the seven Marine Corps installations located west of the Mississippi River—MCAGCC 29 Palms, MCB Camp Pendleton, MCAS Camp Pendleton, MCAS Miramar, MCAS Yuma, MCLB Barstow, MWTC Bridgeport—and stood at the position of attention as the change of command took place.
