Update: Camp Pendleton Marine Killed in Afghanistan Sent Video to Family Before He Died
Farias, who was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, sent a video to his family just before he was killed Tuesday during combat operations, according to San Antonio Channel 5 News.
Camp Pendleton Marine Lance Cpl. John F. Farias, 20, of New Braunfels, TX, died on Tuesday while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.
Farias sent a video to his family just two weeks ago, according to San Antonio Channel 5 News. In the video, Farias attempted to comfort them by saying he'd be home soon. Military blogger Beth Ford Roth also wrote about Farias' video for KPBS Homepost.
Farias was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
