Caring For Native Oceanside Trees On National Arbor Day
The Oceanside area has over 18 types of native trees that support the natural ecosystem of our diverse region. How many can you name?

OCEANSIDE, CA — Happy Arbor Day, Oceanside! Arbor Day is observed to encourage the planting of trees. The history of Arbor Day dates back to 1594 when the Spanish village of Mondoñedo held the first documented arbor plantation festival in the world organized by its mayor.
More than 400 years later trees are still as critical to our survival. In California, we know all too well the pain of losing large swaths of our forest land to fires and overdevelopment.
“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
