Sergio Escamillo's game winning rbi paces Mission Vista in First Round of D IV CIF Baseball

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Mission Vista High School-Oceanside, CA-Wednesday, June 9, 2021-The Timberwolves of Mission Vista improve their record to 20-9 on the season but found out the hard way for second time around in a CIF Division IV first round lower bracket baseball tournament after a 10-4 win, they defeated the Eagles of Marantha Christian School from Imperial Beach, CA with 1 run in the 1st on Ian Halverson's rbi triple, after Marantha Christian 2 runs in the top of the 3rd, on an rbi and walk, came back to tie the game at 2-2 on Vince Miller's rbi double scored Ethan Park, regain the lead at 3-2 on Sergio Escalante's rbi's squeeze bunt scoring Kevin Jamarillo.
Sergio Escalante on the game winning bunt: "Marantha Christian has an outstanding pitcher in Josh Gray, they're a good squad." "After trailing 2-1 we had to focus on playing the game along with supporting each other as a team." "On the bunt their pitcher threw a fastball inside I took the first 2 pitches but will do anything for my squad." "Differences in the games when we played Maranatha Christian it was the intensity of the game since it was a CIF Tournament contest that means we have to go out and do our responsibilities for us to go far in our Division."
Brennan Waldrop gets the win for Mission Vista as he pitched 2.1 innings recorded 6 strikeouts and will travel to Imperial Beach to play 18-8 Mar Vista High School on 6-11-21
