LaCosta Canyon alum Spencer Jones scores game winning run for Vanderbilt


LCC alum Spencer Jones makes headlines in 2021 College World Series

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-6-23-21-In an elimination game the Vanderbilt Commodores came back from a 5-4 deficit as they scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th as they defeated the Cardinals of Stanford by a 6-5 score.

The 4th ranked Commodores at 47-16 came back from a 5-4 deficit in the home 9th as Spencer Jones came in as a pinch hitter singled to Stanford shortstop Adam Crampton who overthrew first baseman as Jones advanced to second base.

In the Commodores 9th, Javier Vaz scored on an RBI single by Enrique Bradford, Jr tied the game at 5-5, the LaCosta Canyon alum scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch by Stanford relief pitcher Brendan Beck which made the final score 6-5 in favor of the Commodores.

The Commodores will take on the Wolfpack of NC State at 1 PM on Friday, June 25th.
