City Of Oceanside Looks To Hire Lifeguards For Summer
Applicants must be 15-years-old to begin taking classes, which start on April 12 and 26.
OCEANSIDE, CA — The City of Oceanside is looking to hire lifeguards for the summer season, it announced in on social media Tuesday.
To qualify, applicants must be 15-years-old by the beginning of classes, which begin on April 12 and 26. They must also complete a swim test before registering.
The swim test, which can be scheduled by calling Brooks Street Swim Center at (760) 435-5225, is made up of a 300-yeard continuous swim, two minutes of treading water with no hands and a timed brick retrieval.

Once chosen, applicants will attend classes three days a week for five weeks. Those who complete lifeguard courses will receive two-year certifications in lifeguard training, basic life support, emergency response and oxygen administration.
They will also receive a one-year certification in blood-borne pathogen training.
