Drunken Drivers, Think Again: DUI Checkpoint in Oceanside

The Oceanside Police Department will conduct a DUI Checkpoint on Friday as part of the DUI Enforcement and Awareness Program.

The will conduct a DUI checkpoint beginning Friday at 8 p.m. and ending at 3 a.m. Saturday in the city of Oceanside, according to the department. The checkpoint is part of the DUI Enforcement and Awareness Program, which is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The focus of the checkpoint will be to reduce driving while intoxicated and injury collisions, while removing drunken drivers from the roadway, according to police.

Members of the public are encouraged to help keep the roadways safe by calling 911 if they see an impaired driver.
