Fire Evicts Family Living in Camp Pendleton's South Mesa Housing Community

According to comments posted on the military lifestyle forum site, Pendleton Underground, a house was set aflame in the South Mesa housing community aboard Camp Pendleton on Tuesday afternoon, forcing the occupying family to flee.

Some speculate that the fire was caused by an exploding water heater in the family's garage. The family was home during the fire and managed to escape safely. Base officials have relocated them to another home, according to the forum thread. Members of Pendleton Underground rallied quickly, promising to donate essential and nonessential goods to the family who had most of their belongings destroyed in the blaze.
