Former Camp Pendleton Journalist Darlene Himmelspach Dies at 67

An avid fan of baseball and the Boston Red Sox, Himmelspach frequently reported on police, crime and the military, specifically covering "her Marines," at Camp Pendleton, according to the Yakima Herald.

Darlene Himmelspach, who for years covered the Oceanside area and Camp Pendleton for the San Diego Union and the Oceanside Blade-Tribune, died in May at the age of 67.

She passed away May 16 at her Oceanside home. She is survived by two sisters:  Audrey Jolley and Mary Ann Thomaier; nephews Dan, Kim and Rick Jolley, John and Dennis Wise; and niece Beth Ann, all of whom live in Washington State.
