When you waved at a friend only to see it’s a complete stranger.
That time you spilled coffee on your boss.
When you complain about service and then realize you’re the problem.

Yes, we’ve all had them. The emotional feelings are bounded by a certain level of discomfort. When they happen, it feels like the whole world is watching. Usually, the mistake goes unnoticed and it’s only in the person's mind that has them flummoxed. Except if it’s you, then everybody’s looking.

Some faux pas are well documented and easy to see why someone was embarrassed.

With social media, it’s even easier to get into an awkward situation. Send a text to the wrong person. Swipe right by accident and now have to avoid a co-worker. Post a cringe-worthy comment that you almost immediately regret. We've all been there. So don't be shy or feel awkward, just get out there and celebrate your biggest embarrassing moments.

How to Celebrate National Awkward Moments Day

Share your gaffes. Tell people some of the really stupid things you’ve done, and laugh at them.
Get over it. No one is ever going to add “Tripped on thin air” to your permanent record.
Call a friend and reminisce about the time you guys got caught singing a Spice Girls song into a hairbrush.
Don’t take things too seriously. Remember, sharing and laughing will take the sting out of most anything.

What’s really weird about this day is no one seems to know who, how or when this became a thing. Awkward!
