Camp Pendleton Honors Marines Felled in Afghanistan

The 1st Marine Division, based at Camp Pendleton, has been involved in some nasty skirmishes in the past. It’s the oldest Marine Corps division, after all, and has had its hand in many of our county’s battles from WWII to Afghanistan. Some 144 1st Marines lost their lives in the past year in Afghanistan and the division honored their passing aboard Camp Pendleton Friday, according to the Orange County Register.

Former Camp Pendleton Marine Scott Wisniewski and his brand new bride, Monika, had all of their wedding keepsakes stolen from their rental car Sunday evening. The newlyweds met while Wisniewski was stationed at the Marine Corps Base six years ago. They flew back to where they met to be married on May 15, according to a KGTV San Diego News report. Their rental car was broken into, their valuables stolen, while they were honeymooning in San Diego.
