At Least 1 Killed In Crash On I-5 North Of Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, CA — At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 north of Oceanside.

The crash was reported at around 6:50 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 just south of San Onofre State Beach, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene shortly before 7:45 a.m.

No further details about the crash were immediately available.

Authorities shut down the far right lane on southbound I-5 just north of the CHP checkpoint. As of 8:45 a.m., traffic on the southbound highway was backed up past Basilone Road.
