Man Attempts Suicide, Shoots Himself at Oceanside Gun Range

The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, police said, adding that trauma support was provided for the man's companion.

A man attempted to kill himself at an Oceanside shooting range on Wednesday afternoon, turning a rented gun on himself to the horror of his companion.

According to U-T San Diego, the man, who was in his 40s or 50s, rented a gun from Iron Sights Shooting Range on Airport Road, went into a shooting stall with a companion, loaded the gun and shot himself. Oceanside police Lt. Steve Regalado told the newspaper that the shooting appears to have been intentional. 

The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, police said, adding that trauma support was provided for the man's companion. 

According to U-T San Diego, it is estimated that between 10 and 20 other people were in the building, including Iron Sights employees and customers.
