Marine Corps Buys Taliban Robots for Target Practice

The Marine Corps purchased eight of the targets for almost $2 million, Marine Corps Times reported. The targets resemble Taliban fighters and will be available to service members in the fall.

Marines training for Middle East combat will have a newer, smarter enemy target to shoot at in the fall.

Marine Corps Systems Command recently purchased a set of eight Segway robot targets from Marathon Robotics, an Australia-based company, for close to $2 million, Marine Corps Times reported.

The robots resemble Taliban fighters and will only be used by a handful of warfighters, wrote Marine Corps Times reporter James K. Sanborn.
