Marine Forces Europe/Marine Forces Commander Visits Camp Pendleton

Lt. Gen. Dennis Hejlik, MARFOREUR commander, visits with Marines from the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion before their planned deployment to the Black Sea region.

Marines with the Black Sea Rotational Force met with the commander of Marine Forces Europe and Marine Forces Command this week as they underwent pre-deployment training at Camp Pendleton.

Lt. Gen. Dennis Hejlik, one of a few senior Marine Corps officers who blogs, had goals in mind for members of the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion and their upcoming deployment.

"They represent themselves first as Americans and second as U.S. Marines," Hejlik told Marine Cpl. Ned Johnson in a DVIDs video. So whoever trains with the Marines, whether that be forces from Bulgaria or elsewhere, can say "it's great training with U.S. Marines and with Americans."
