Marine Harrier Jets, Mortars, Artillery to Bombard Camp Pendleton Next Week

From Sunday to Friday, Marines will be conducting live-fire training exercises in the northeastern area of Camp Pendleton.

If you hear an earth-shattering kaboom on Sunday, fear not. That's just the sound of freedom.

Marine Corps ground and air elements will be conducting live-fire training exercises in the northeastern portion of Camp Pendleton from Sunday to Friday.

AV8 Harrier jets will drop 500 pounds of high explosive munitions and mortar and artillery teams will be shelling the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas during the week, Camp Pendleton Patch confirmed with base Operations and Training.

As always, depending on atmospheric conditions, the explosions may be heard up to 50 miles away.
