Marines Come Home After Yearlong Afghanistan Deployment
Operation: Love ReUnited photographer Valerie Nerres shares her homecoming photos of Regimental Combat Team 5. The unit returned home Friday after spending a year in Afghanistan.
A crowd of family and friends gathered to welcome 1st Marine Regiment Marines, also known an Regimental Combat Team 1, home at Camp Horno aboard Camp Pendleton Friday afternoon.
The unit spent a year in Afghanistan and was recently relieved by Regimental Combat Team 5. See the Camp Pendleton Patch video of RCT-5's deployment in August.
