Mesa Fire Grows To 350 Acres, Smoke Seen In Oceanside
The Mesa Fire sparked off state Route 76, near Pala Casino around 2pm, according to Cal Fire. Photo shows smoke visible from Oceanside.

OCEANSIDE, CA — As of 6:44pm, the Mesa Fire was reported by CalFire to be at 350 acres with 0% containment. However, the rate of spread had slowed from earlier in the day.
Smoke from the Mesa Fire was visible from Oceanside as seen in the photo above taken by Patch reader and Oceanside resident, Dan Wyman.
San Diego County Emergency issued a Smoke advisory earlier in the afternoon. Highway 76 is closed from Horse Creek Ranch to Pala Casino. An evacuation warning is in place for the surrounding area (see map). Two Temporary Evacuation Points have been established at Valley Center High School, 31322 Cole Grade Road and another at Interstate 15 and the Highway 76 Park and Ride lot, at 3446-3546 Old Hwy 395 Fallbrook, CA 92028.

CalFire provided a video on Twitter of firefighters working to contain the fire in the 6:44 pm update.
