Miley Cyrus, Calling Miley Cyrus

The former Disney star better not stand up a Camp Pendleton Marine who asked her to the November ball, one in a recent series of ask-a-celeb-to-party invites.

It's a bona fide trend.

Singer Miley Cyrus is the latest celebrity asked by a Marine for a date, this time to Camp Pendleton's Nov. 12 ball.

Pfc. Ian Hart took to YouTube and issued his cheeky invitation to the former Disney star with the plea, "Please, Miley Cyrus. This one's for you, girl."

Sgt. Scott Monroe, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines in Musa Qala, Afghanistan, triggered the wave of intentionally conspicuous invites by asking actress Mila Kunis to the Marine Corps ball on Nov. 18 in Greenville, NC. Mila said yes, The Huffington Post reports.

Cpl. Kelsey de Santis followed with an invitation to Justin Timberlake to the Washington, D.C., corps ball on Nov. 12. Timberlake also agreed, having little choice after he egged on Mila to accept.

But when Sgt. Ray Lewis issued his invitation to actress Betty White to attend the Marine Corps ball Oct. 29 in Fort Worth, TX, she politely declined. Not wanting him to go dateless, actress Linda Hamilton said she would stand in Betty's stead, NBC's Today reports.
