O-Side Jersey Mike's Kick Off Benefit For 'Feeding San Diego'
Consider the Oceanside sub-sandwich shops when making meal plans Monday and Tuesday as 25% of sales will go to the local nonprofit.
OCEANSIDE, CA — As the coronavirus pandemic fuels job losses and accompanying food-bank needs, the nonprofit Feeding San Diego said it is particulary grateful for a two-day fundraiser underway at the 47 Jersey Mike’s Subs locations throughout San Diego County, including those in Oceanside.
The sub-sandwich chain is donating 25 percent of sales Monday and Tuesday to the local hunger-relief agency, a Feeding America affiliate that partners with a network of 300 area charities, schools, faith communities, meal sites and food pantries.
“With children out of school, rising unemployment and business closures, the need for food assistance has increased by an estimated 50 percent in San Diego County,” said Gavon Morris, Feeding San Diego's chief development and marketing officer. “Jersey Mike’s partnership and generous gift is helping us distribute additional meals to the community during this difficult time.”

Customers can place take-out orders in-store or for no-contact, pick-up at the door through the chain's website or via the Jersey Mike’s app. Delivery also is available through the app or through third-party delivery partners.
“We hope everyone will come in to our beautiful newly renovated restaurants and support this important cause,” said Cathy Brown, a local Jersey Mike's owner, who said San Diego County locales are following the give-back example set by the business's founder Peter Cancro.

“To honor (Cancro) for his extraordinary example of giving during these challenging times, we wanted to conduct our own local fundraiser to help those struggling with hunger in our community.”
The Oceanside Jersey Mike's are at: 302 Mission Ave.; 4111 Oceanside Blvd.; and 4904 N. River Road.
