Oceanside Man in Deadly Car Crash Identified by Medical Examiner
An active-duty Army soldier from Oceanside was named as the victim of a fatal car crash in Vista last week.
The 25-year-old man who died in a high-speed vehicle crash in Vista was identified by the county Medical Examiner's Office Monday.
Brendan James Castro of Oceanside was killed while driving westbound on
Gopher Canyon Road near Vista Valley Drive about 5 a.m. Dec. 20.
According to the medical examiner, Castro was driving at a high rate of
speed when he lost control of his vehicle. The car crossed the road, went
airborne and struck two trees before overturning.

Castro, an active duty member of the U.S. Army, was pronounced dead at
the scene.
