Oceanside Mayor Croons Local Junkyard Crowd
A full house was on hand Friday night for a performance by Peter Weiss, otherwise known as the Mayor of Oceanside, California.
OCEANSIDE, CA - There are very few cities that can brag about how their Mayor will do just about anything to please constituents, but then again Oceanside is not just any city. Just ask the locals that were on hand Friday night as Oceanside Mayor Peter Weiss entertained a packed house with his renditions of classic rock and folk music.
The Junkyard Bar & Grill was the place to be when Peter Weiss (who is Mayor of Oceanside by day, but transforms into a music, guitar hero by night) performed for over 3 hours on Friday evening, accompanied by a little help from friends and community members brave enough to join in.
The fact that the Mayor knew and welcomed almost everyone that entered over the course of the evening, is just part of what makes him so popular. Being able to play and sing favorites like "Maggie May" and "One Toke Over the Line" also helps win friends and influence the laid back, beach friendly residents of Oceanside.

While the performance by Mayor Weiss was the highlight of the evening, the food, drink and service at the Junkyard kept the crowd in a fun and festive mood all night long. If you were not one of the fortunate few that was serenaded by our troubadour Mayor, fear not, as he is likely to be appearing at a local hangout, festival or City Hall meeting near you very soon!
