Oceanside School District Return To In-Person Safety Protocols
Safety Protocols for Secondary Return to In-Person Instruction issued by Oceanside Unified School District.
OCEANSIDE, CA —Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) has issued a letter to secondary Parents, Guardians and Caregivers regarding the Safety Protocols for Secondary Return to In-Person Instruction.
The letter was published on the OUSD website on March 29, 2021, by Jordy L. Sparks, Director of Student Services. The letter includes 5 main points for safety consideration for reopening.
- Any student or staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 must isolate for 10 days and can return to campus when they are symptom-free without the help of medication.
- Any person (staff are excluded if vaccinated) who is a close contact, must quarantine for a period of 10 days. A close contact is defined as any person that has been exposed directly to the person who tested positive, within six feet for at least 15 minutes of the person who tested positive over a 24-hour period, with or without a mask.
- If your student has been exposed as a close contact to anyone outside of school who has tested positive for COVID-19, please keep your student home for the 10-day quarantine period, and notify the school that your child, if able, will be participating in virtual learning.
- Because maintaining a 6-ft distance at all times will be a challenge in the secondary in-person learning environment, and to avoid class closures or shifts to virtual learning, please ensure that you are supporting your student in daily self-screening for any symptoms consistent with COVID-19. If your student has any of the symptoms listed below, they must stay home. If able, the student can engage in virtual learning and not be penalized for missing school. Use the self-screening tool and assess if your student shows any symptoms.
- If your student has any symptoms associated with COVID-19, they will be sent home from school, and this flow chart explains the process for their return to school.
