Plastic or Paper? Oceanside Encourages Residents to Say Neither

Oceanside's officials ask locals to forgo using paper or plastic bags and take reusable bags instead while holiday shopping.

Oceanside officials and leaders will say no to paper and plastic bags in favor of reusable bags today as part of the fifth annual Day Without A Bag celebration.

The event is presented by the city, Main Street Oceanside and Oceanside Farmer’s and Sunset and is meant to educate and remind holiday shoppers to remember their reusable bags instead of relying on disposable.

“Shoppers who bring their own reusable bag to the Oceanside Farmer’s and Sunset Markets will be entered into a drawing for fun eco-friendly prizes,” organizers wrote in a news release. “For those that forget their bag, the City of Oceanside will be on hand distributing free reusable bags.”
