Rain Continues to Soak San Diego County

More than an inch has fallen in many spots since Thursday.

The recent rains that have fallen on San Diego County since Thursday morning are expected to continue through Monday, with many communities recording well over an inch of rain. In Oceanside, .77 of an inch was recorded at the airport.

The National Weather Service released rainfall totals from Thursday morning through Saturday at 11 a.m:

The National Weather Service said rain was expected to persist for the next 24 to 48 hours as onshore flow increases in ahead of a cold upper-level trough headed down the coast through Monday.

“This was a welcome and beneficial rain for the area including the deserts, where little rain has fallen so far this season,” forecasters reported on the NWS website. “It is not quite over yet either.”

The National Weather Service forecast for Oceanside:

Saturday afternoon: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. South wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. South wind 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Southeast wind around 10 mph.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. North wind around 5 mph becoming west in the morning.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.
