Roads Open After Ruptured Gas Line Causes Closure on 76

Oceanside police directed traffic while utility crews repaired a broken gas line that had been ruptured Wednesday afternoon.

Oceanside police shut down a portion of Route 76 for several hours after a gas line was ruptured Wednesday afternoon, City News Service reported.

It was about 1:30 p.m. when the gas line broke just west of Melrose Avenue.

Lanes were closed from Melrose Avenue to Vista Way while San Diego Gas & Electric crews made repairs, Oceanside Sgt. Rick Favela told City News Service.

Police were directing traffic, which was affected significantly in both directions.
