Suspected Robber Goes Before Judge

An Oceanside man accused of robbing a bank in his hometown pleaded not guilty today to burglary and robbery charges.

Herbert Paquette, 41, was ordered held on $75,000 bail.

Paquette allegedly used a demand note to steal an undisclosed amount of cash at the Chase branch office in the 4100 block of Oceanside Boulevard on the afternoon of Nov. 30.

Surveillance photos and physical evidence left at the crime scene led investigators to identify Paquette as the suspected bandit and he was arrested Tuesday, Oceanside police Lt. Aaron Doyle said.

Paquette faces five years and eight months in prison if convicted, according to Deputy District Attorney Teresa Pham.

Vista Judge Marshall Hockett scheduled a readiness conference for Dec. 23 and a preliminary hearing for Dec. 26.
