MainStreet Oceanside unveils 3 mural concepts for public vote during OMI Open House at Northern Pine Brewing [PHOTOS]
Oceanside, CA - An enthusiastic crowd was on hand Tuesday night for the unveiling of the latest Oceanside mural concepts and to meet the three artist chosen as finalists. MainStreet Oceanside hosted the Open House as part of the Oceanside Mural Initiative (OMI) at That Boy Good BBQ and Northern Pine Brewing, located at 326 N. Horne Street, which is the future installation site of the second OMI mural.
Chosen by a six-member selection panel of Downtown Oceanside leaders, business owners and residents, the three finalists are Amy Burkman, Rik Erickson and Gloria Muriel (see profiles below). The muralists were chosen based on their concept's ability to visually captivate the viewer, how well the mural design represents Oceanside’s unique and diverse character, and their technical skill.
A packed house of community members were on hand to meet and greet the artists and a portion of proceeds from the food and beverage sales benefited the OMI. For future murals, MainStreet continues to ask the community to donate $5 or more via the OMI’s GoFundMe page. MainStreet Oceanside will match total donations up to $10,000 and is more than halfway toward this goal.
