Woman Hit By Car While Walking Dogs in Oceanside

The woman, reported to be in her 50s, was flown to Scripps Memorial in La Jolla. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The dogs were not injured.

A woman was struck by a white Hyundai on Monday night, while she was walking her dogs in Oceanside, police said.

U-T San Diego reports that the woman was attempting to cross South Coast Highway near Eaton Street, outside of the crosswalk area.

She was struck and reportedly hit the windshield, sustaining a head injury. The woman's dogs were not injured and were transported from the scene, according to police Lt. Leonard Cosby.

The woman, reported to be in her 50s, was flown to Scripps Memorial in La Jolla. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Cosby told the newspaper that the 23-year-old woman who was driving the car was previously stopped at a red light. She advanced when the light turned green, and struck the woman who was still in the middle of the street.

Cosby said an initial investigation revealed that the driver stopped after hitting the victim, and that the driver was not at fault and was not cited.
