WRC Benefit for Domestic Violence Victims Raises Funds & Spirits

Annual "Magical Evening" Gala raises $70,000 - PHOTOS

OCEANSIDE, CA - Excitement and hope filled the air last Friday evening when around 150 people gathered at the beautiful Agua Hedionda Discovery Center for the annual WRC "Magical Evening" fundraiser. Guests were entertained with live music by "Reggie Pressed 4 Time", while enjoying local beer, wine, and small tastings providing by local restaurants and caterers. A highlight of the evening that illustrated the need for support from the community was the story of "Cinthia", a survivor that has turned her life around through the help of the WRC.

A silent and live auction added to the festivities as guests competed for the highest bid on the most popular items. Auctioneer Scott Bowman intensified the bidding with his rapid pace and enticing banter which included 2 matching bids totaling $1800 for Dinner with Friends provided by WRC Founder, Colleen O'Harra. Musical Musings with Mayor Peter Weiss also brought on a frenzied bidding war that ended in a $1000 winning bid. In all, the evening raised approximately $70,000 that will help the WRC provide needed housing, healing and courage to men, women and children that have been victims of domestic violence.

"The WRC would like to thank all the sponsors and attendees for making our 2018 Magical Evening Gala a great success." said Brandee Clayton, Special Event Coordinator for WRC, "And a special thank you to the staff and volunteers for all the hard work. We couldn't do it without you."
