Five robbery suspects stole cash and prescription drugs from a Walgreens pharmacy on Friday and managed to escape after a wild police chase.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- Five robbery suspects stole cash and prescription drugs from a Walgreens pharmacy early Friday morning and led police on a chase that literally flamed out when the engine of their getaway car caught fire -- but the perpetrators still managed to escape.
One of the suspects flashed a firearm during the 4:10 a.m. robbery at 12001 Euclid St., according to Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.
The robbers jumped over the counter of the 24-hour pharmacy, grabbing codeine, cash and other medications, he said.

Police spotted their getaway car as it left the store's parking lot and gave chase. The vehicle's engine caught fire at Euclid and Cerritos streets in Anaheim and the suspects bailed out and ran, Whitney said.
A search of the area did not lead to any arrests, but investigators found a gun and cell phones that the robbers left behind, Whitney said.
