ANAHEIM, CA — The Los Angeles Angels have something to sing about with Mike Trout agreeing to the offered $430 million contract extension and all but guaranteeing he will retire wearing the red and white Angels uniform.

Mike Trout, 27, signed the contract Tuesday saying he will stay with the team he's grown with from the beginning, a win for Angels fans, MLB.com says.

"He has the chance to go down as the greatest player ever to spend his entire career with one team," they wrote of the deal. The contract signing is also a big win for the organization, as Trout was two years from free agency. Now, fans and the club can enjoy watching a team built around the half-billion-dollar player.

This contract breaks "all kinds of records," ESPN says

Trout is a "generational talent with an unparalleled set of skills among his peers," ESPN sportswriter Jeff Passan wrote. "Trout has put together arguably the greatest start to a career in baseball history. In 1,065 games, he has slashed .307/.416/.573 with 240 home runs, 648 RBIs, 793 runs and 189 stolen bases. No player in history has put up more wins above replacement through his age-26 season than Trout's 64.3."

Fellow players congratulated Trout on receiving the offer he wanted, but none better than Albert Pujols, who signed his own $240 million contract in 2011. Pujols told ESPN, "Pretty sure I ain't paying one more dinner for him."

This year, six contracts have been awarded upwards of $260 million.
