Joe Maddon Joins Los Angeles Angels
The Los Angeles Angels hired Joe Maddon as their new manager on Wednesday. Maddon led the Chicago Cubs to a World Series victory in 2016.

ANAHEIM, CA — Joe Maddon will be the next manager of the Los Angeles Angels, the club announced Wednesday.
"The Los Angeles Angels have agreed to terms with manager Joe Maddon," the Angels tweeted Wednesday morning. Maddon will have a three-year contract with the organization, the team said.

The Angels had a tough season this year, losing 90 games, and have not made a postseason appearance since 2014, according to MLB.com. They have some excellent weapons in the dugout, with Mike Trout under contract until 2030 with his new contract.
Maddon, 65, has a home in the city of Long Beach, which made a bid earlier this year to persuade the Angels to move there.

He comes to the Angels from the Chicago Cubs, who he led to their first World Series victory in 108 years in 2016. In addition to his two National League Central titles and four playoff appearances in Chicago, Maddon previously led the Tampa Bay Rays to the postseason four times, including a World Series victory in 2008.
