Fire in Fullerton Leads To Evacuations, Red Flag Warning For OC
Fires burned in Orange County cities of Irvine, Yorba Linda, and Fullerton, as gusting winds put fire officials on high alert.

FULLERTON, CA — A small brush fire ignited in the area of Las Palmas and Flintridge, midday Monday.
Nearby homes were evacuated, the city of Fullerton reported. Police are assisting in evacuations of nearby houses.

A small fire was also reported in Yorba Linda, in the area of La Palma Avenue, east of Yorba Linda Boulevard. Officials say that fire was quickly extinguished.

The far larger Green Fire, also called the Blue Ridge Fire, threatened homes in Yorba Linda, near Kodiak Mountain and the Green River Golf Course, midday Monday.

Spot fires from the Irvine-based Silverado Fire continued to spread to the south, sparking in the area of Trabuco Canyon, at Irvine Boulevard and the CA 133.
Two hotshot firefighters suffered critical injuresbattling the blaze, and remain hospitalized at OC Global Medical Center.
Elsewhere in Orange County, widespread smoke and strong winds were in the forecast until Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service of San Diego. Both high wind and red flag warnings were in place until Tuesday across Orange County, according to the National Weather Service.
Miles of wind-driven smoke covered much of Orange County, spreading as far west as Long Beach, originating from the Irvine-area blaze.
