Former Irvine basketball standout leads her team back to CA
Ex-Irvine Valley College star Fala Bullock's squad flies in from Oklahoma for games Friday, Saturday.
One of the many out-of-state Californians returning home for Thanksgiving will be Irvine native and former Irvine Valley College standout Fala Bullock.
After an impressive collegiate career Coach Bullock now leads Oklahoma’s Northeastern State University’s women’s basketball program.
The Riverhawks (1-3 on the year) are in town for a two-day, four-team mini-tournament at Azusa Pacific’s Felix Event Center.

Coach Bullock was appointed to head up Northeastern State’s program in April, 2017, leading the team to the Mid-America Athletics Association’s tournament in her first year. As a player she transferred to NSU from Irvine Valley College in 2004, earning both her bachelors and masters degrees in Oklahoma.
Three of the Riverhawks’ roster also enjoy California ties – senior center Joi Bertrand (Long Beach), junior forward Julia Hill (Redding) and junior guard Maddie Morrow (Riverside).
After the games Coach Bullock will lead her team back to Oklahoma to begin conference play – fortified by memories of sun ‘n’ sand from their California Thanksgiving trip.
