Chemical Spill Prompts Hazmat, Road Closure: Orange
A hazardous materials unit responded to the City of Orange Monday after a "truck spill," on Glassell Street between Grove and Meats Avenues.

ORANGE, CA — A spillage of an unknown chemical substance prompted police in the city of Orange to close Glassell Street between Grove and Meats Avenues, officials said. There was no known threat to public safety, according to the Orange Police, however the spill led to a "hazardous materials concern," an Orange Police spokesperson said.
Police say the thoroughfare was expected to be closed until approximately 2:30 p.m.. It's unclear what spilled from the parked chemical truck.
"We've isolated the incident, we've dyked the material and protected people in the surrounding areas,'' Orange Fire Department Capt. Ian MacDonald said. Two hazardous materials teams were called in to mop up the chemical before the truck was towed away.
