Heritage Oak Private Education Participates in Poetry Event
Students were invited to read their poems to more than 150 virtual attendees from Spring Education Group schools across the country

Students from Heritage Oak Private Education in Yorba Linda and 11 sister schools across the country recently participated in “Poetry Out Loud,” a national, virtual event. These schools are part of Spring Education Group, a multi-school network providing superior private school education from infant care through high school. Students were invited to read poetry they created during the event, which was attended by more than 150 students, staff and family members across six states.
In total, 95 students shared their poetry, which ranged in topics from families, friendships and pets, to lighthearted topics like cheeseburgers and ice cream, and expressions about coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. The participating poets represented kindergarten through 11th grade. As part of the school’s distance learning program, students celebrated National Poetry Month in April by composing their own poems and were then asked to participate in this “open mic” event to connect and share their poetry with their peers.
