Car Tumbles, Smashes Into Big Rig On W. McFadden Avenue
A mob of passers-by helped flip this Acura over following a rollover crash on a busy Santa Ana street, Monday afternoon. 2 remain critical.

SANTA ANA, CA — A dramatic collision critically injured two young adult men near Harbor and W. McFadden in Santa Ana, authorities said.
Just after noon on Monday, the driver of a stakebed truck clipped an Acura while making a left- hand turn into a shopping center anchored by Walmart at McFadden Avenue, near Jackson Street, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
The Acura flipped over and skidded on its roof into a semi-trailer truck going westbound.

A "mob of people" arrived at the scene and flipped the car over, Bertagna said. Orange County Fire Authority arrived at the scene, and it took "heavy rescue" to remove the top off of the vehicle and extricate both driver and passenger.
Both young men were taken away by ambulance with traumatic injuries, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito. They were last reported as in the care of UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange in critical condition. The driver was not responsive at the scene, while the passenger was talking, according to reports.

Meanwhile, W. McFadden Ave. was to be closed for investigation between Harbor and South Jackson Street until after 5 p.m., Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna reported.
Investigators are researching whether the left-turn signal was yellow or red at the time of the initial crash. There have been no arrests, and alcohol and drugs were not known factors in this collision.
